Louis Cabié

Louis-Alexandre CABIÉ (Dol-de-Bretagne in 1854-Bordeaux in 1939)

Coming to settle in Bordeaux in 1870, then marrying a Perigordine woman for a second time, this talented painter is part of the second generation of landscape painters from Bordeaux in the 19th century, following in the footsteps of Auguin and Chabry and taking his inspiration from the painters of the Barbizon school. Student and friend of the painter Henri d’Harpignies, he is the last great representative of the Bordeaux school of landscape painting. His compositions take nature as their inspiration, striving to capture its particular beauty. He painted a few vases in the Vieillard et Cie factory in Bordeaux.
