Lucien de Maleville

Lucien de Maleville (1881 in Périgueux- 1964 in Rueil-Malmaison)

Born into an illustrious Perigordian family, he grew up in the castle of Fénelon in the countryside of the Sarlat region of France, which is ideal for contemplation and the development of a particular romantic sensibility. Trained in Paris, he attended Cabié’s workshop. His talent ranged from early caricature, monuments and landscapes of a dark romanticism in charcoal and ink for lithography to landscapes and country scenes in oil from the Dordogne in particular.
